Individual Counseling - Meeting with a counselor one to one can be very helpful. Jesus
says to "love one another" and a good counselor should be someone that you can walk towards
healing with and find comfort, love, acceptance, accountability, and wisdom. A counselor can
also see your family members or friends who may need help understanding your
struggles/addiction and help them to cope as well.
Couple Counseling - Meeting together with your spouse can also be helpful in his/her
healing. It can help your marriage to begin healing and to offer a "salve" to the wounds caused
by your addiction/sexual brokenness. A spouse oftentimes is left feeling betrayed, hurt, and
isolated by your addiction. Counseling can help begin the healing process.
Group Counseling/Support Group - Meeting in a group alongside other strugglers (a
Men's Group and a Women's Group) can be helpful as well because you realize that you are not
alone and mutual accountability by individuals who have "been there" offers further support.
Many times the sexually broken have isolated themselves or have never learned how to "relate"
to others in any way other than sexually. A Group can help begin healthy social interactions
and provide a place to practice healthy boundaries.
